Troy Allen is the current Director of Curriculum, Assessment, and Learning for the Davis Joint Unified School District. She started her career in San Jose teaching English as a Second Language and PE, as well as English. She moved to the Modesto area (Salida), and worked as a consultant for the Stanislaus County Office of Education. After having her girls and staying home for a bit, she began teaching at Da Vinci Charter Academy in Davis, Ca. Da Vinci is a Project Based Learning school and the pedagogy and culture inspired her in a way she had never imagined. The team took collaboration, professional learning, trust, and students at center and embodied what ought to be. They were able to start a junior high school, where she became Vice Principal and then transitioned to be Principal at Da Vinci Charter Academy. Her passion and beliefs are that education should include all students, contribute to our communities, and be joyful. New to her position at the district office, she continues to be amazed at the insightful work, nuanced intelligence, and drive of the educators she is surrounded by. She is an undisciplined runner, loves cowboy boots and books, and loves noble challenge. She is married to her best friend and they have four girls: 11, 12, 13, 15.
