Nikki Hinostro is a native San Diegan who grew up in Encinitas. At the University of Notre Dame she earned a double major in Psychology and Computers while playing on the women’s soccer team. She began her career in education in 1998 in a two year teaching program where she taught 5th grade in East Los Angeles and completed her Masters of Education at Loyola Marymount University. Over the next four years she taught middle school in Cambridge, Massachusetts, coached the Girls’ Varsity Soccer team at Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School and co-led a school turnaround leadership team for a “low performing” middle school.
In 2004 Nikki returned to San Diego and began working for High Tech High as a 7th grade math and science teacher. Since then she has worked as the founding director of High Tech Middle Media Arts, the founding director at High Tech High North County, a faculty member for the High Tech High Graduate School of Education, the director and the dean at High Tech High International. She is currently the director at High Tech Middle.
